![]() ![]() When Activision released the PC version Soldier of Fortune, they released two editions: a "kids" version with no blood and chunks, and the uncensored bloody version that would make a vampire reel in disgust. delivers brutally violent, incredibly gory, and horrific bloody action that borders on the perverse. Though I'm not a fan of playing first person shooters on consoles, Soldier of Fortune is a solid Dreamcast title that, despite having a few nagging problems with controls and loading problems, delivers good bloody action. And although Half-Life did not make it to the last Dreamcast party, many DC owners may forget about that game once they see Soldier of Fortune. Thankfully, there have been some phenomenal first person shooters released with excellent one player modes, most recently Deus Ex for the PC. Although it's highly entertaining to eviscerate online opponents, most of these corridor shooters have a pretty weak one-player experience ¿ most are an extension of the multi-player game, just with stupid CPU enemies. Mix this premise in with multiple players online and you've got some quality deathmatch action. When you break it down to the basics, the first person shooter genre has a very simple mission: shoot and kill anything that moves. ![]()
